What is a Pro-Cathedral?
A pro-cathedral is a parish church that temporarily serves as the seat of a bishop until a permanent cathedral can be established. As the church of the Bishop, it is the focal point of the diocese's worship, ordinations, and episcopal acts.
History of the Ordinariate
The Anglican Ordinariate of Saint George was raised as a missionary jurisdiction to gather Anglican faithful, clergy, and chaplaincies into a shared communion of worship, catechesis, and pastoral care under the oversight of a bishop in apostolic succession.
Why Saint George?
Saint George, soldier-martyr and patron of courage, embodies the missionary character of this Ordinariate. He calls us to faithful witness, steadfast prayer, and the bold defense of the Gospel in every place we are sent.
Episcopal Ministry and Apostolic Succession
The Bishop is shepherd, teacher, and high priest of the local Church. Standing in the unbroken line of apostolic succession, he guards the deposit of the faith, ordains clergy, confirms the faithful, and unites the people of God in one Eucharistic communion.
Anglican Worship and Tradition
Our worship is rooted in the Book of Common Prayer and the patrimony of the English Reformation — reverent liturgy, sacred music, sacramental life, and the daily office, offered with dignity and beauty for the glory of God.
